Abstract:

Returned bursts of the steppedfrequency radar (SFR) have a very large timebandwidth product. Consequently, the Woodward narrowband ambiguity function is incapable of describing accurately the characteristics of high-range-resolution images of high-speed targets moving along the line-of-sight of radar. Hence, the echo models of SFR are firstly analyzed, and the wideband ambiguity function (WBAF) of stepped-frequency signals is deduced. Finally, the imaging characteristics of high-speed-target in both timedelay domain and Doppler-shift domain are analyzed through special cuts of the WBAF as well as compared with the narrowband ambiguity function by simulation.
