Abstract: A reduced-dimensional multiple signal classification (RD-MUSIC) based two dimensional direction of arrival (2D-DOA) and frequency estimation algorithm for L-shaped array is proposed. The proposed method utilizes one-dimensional local spectrum-peak search to obtain the estimation of frequency, and the 2D-DOA can be obtained from the parameter matrix generated during the estimation of frequency. Compared with traditional MUSIC algorithm which needs high dimensional global search, the proposed method owns much lower computational complexity with only onedimensional local searching. Furthermore, it’s effective for both uniform and nonuniform L-shaped array and can achieve automatically paired 2D-DOA and frequency estimation. In addition, the angle and frequency estimation performance of the proposed method is close to the traditional MUSIC algorithm and parallel factor method, and outperforms the estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques algorithm and the propagator method.
