Abstract:
The problem of two-dimensional (2D) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation for planar array is discussed, and a successive multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm therein is proposed.The proposed algorithm uses successive one-dimensional searches to achieve the joint estimation of 2D DOA.The proposed algorithm which requires the onedimension local searches can avoid the high computational cost within the classical 2DMUSIC algorithm, and its estimation performance is close to the classical 2D-MUSIC algorithm performance.The proposed algorithm can obtain automatically paired 2D-DOA estimation for planar array, and it has better DOA estimation performance than the propagator method (PM) and estimation of signal parameters via the rotational invariance technique algorithm.Furthermore, it works well for the sources with the same azimuth (or elevation). Combined with high performance and low complexity, the proposed algorithm has a broader application scope.Simulation results verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.
