New velocity estimation and location algorithm for moving targets based on dual-channel SAR systems

Abstract: The second eigenvalue of the sample covariance matrix of dual-channel SAR data can effectively indicate the ground moving targets.A new approach is proposed to estimate the radial velocity by extracting the phase information of the off-diagonal elements in the sample covariance matrix.The technique is verified experimentally by both simulated and real SAR data.Experimental results illustrate that the velocity estimation precision is better than the conventional ATI technique.
